Get To Know Me! | Answering 20 Personal Questions
June 1, 2025
Ever feel like you know someone online but still don’t really know them? I thought it would be fun to share a bit more about myself with a list of 20 personal questions, some lighthearted, some a little deeper. Whether you’ve been following me for a while or just landed here for the first time, I hope this post helps you get a better sense of the person behind the blog. Let’s dive in!
1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small suburban town in Belgium. We lived in a quiet neighbourhood where I spent the most stereotypical 90s childhood you can imagine. I’m glad I can remember a time before technology took over the world.

2. Where do you currently live?
In the past few years I’ve lived in Costa Rica and in Germany, but during Covid I eventually ended up back in Belgium. It was easier and offered the stability I needed at the time. Although sometimes I’m still fantasizing of starting a life in a new country with a warmer climate, I’m quite happy here at the moment, living in a beautiful old mansion close to Antwerp, cohousing with my partner and a mutual friend.
3. Who is your best friend?
My best friend is also my second cousin and we’ve known each other since we were eight! We pretty much grew up together and witnessed all of each other’s awkward teenage phases.

4. Tea or coffee?
Tea, 100%! I love having a cup of tea in the morning with some honey and lemon. Besides, coffee makes me anxious and I don’t like the taste.
5. How tall are you?
I’m 1m70 or 5’6.
6. Funniest moment throughout high school?
Probably the time I tried to scare off a wasp and ended up hitting my friend in the face with my German textbook. We were all studying in silence and my friends hadn’t seen the wasp so me hitting her seemed like a random aggressive act that came out of nowhere. Coordination was just slightly off… Whoops.
7. Are you in/have you gone to college?
Yes, I studied English and Spanish Literature & Linguistics at the University of Antwerp. I absolutely loved my first year of uni, looking back it was probably the most carefree time of my adult life. I’ve been working for a few years now, but I’m actually planning on going back to college to study web design!
8. What’s your favourite alcoholic beverage?
Strawberry mojito, passionfruit mojito, normal mojito… Also, cosmopolitan. And sangria. Okay, I’ll stop now. In all seriousness, I’ve cut back a lot on my alcohol intake this past year. It just doesn’t hit the spot like it used to.
9. Dogs or cats?
Both! I used to be afraid of dogs (got chased by one as a kid), but ever since my family got one, I love them. We also have a cat named Toulouse, who definitely has an attitude, but I love her so much!

10. What are your life goals?
To be honest, I think they’re pretty simple. I’d like to be healthy and happy, pursue all the things that I’m passionate about and somehow make the world better, even if it’s just on a small scale.
11. Have any books changed your life?
I think books can only change your life if you’re ready to receive the message. A lot of books have made me reflect on things, but the ones that may have changed my life are some psychology books I read on emotional manipulation and other toxic behaviour. The biggest lesson I learned through these books is that I wasn’t helping people like I thought I was, I was actually encouraging and enabling their toxic behaviour by being co-dependent and putting my own needs second. Realising this, I was finally able to step away and make healthier decisions.
12. Do you speak any languages and how well?
Dutch is my mother tongue and I’m fluent in English. I actually prefer writing in English, for some reason it feels more natural. I’ve spent many years trying to learn Spanish, and while I can probably still hold a conversation, I’m terribly out of practice. Hopefully someday I’ll have the chance to become fluent in Spanish as well. I can also understand French pretty well, but please don’t make me speak it.
13. Are you single or taken?
I’m in a relationship. We’ve been together for nearly 3 years.
14. What is your idea of your dream date?
Honestly just interesting conversation. It can be sitting on the floor in my bedroom, as long as we’re talking and laughing (wow, cheesy). Anything can be fun with the right person.
15. How would you describe your fashion sense?
It really depends, but in general I would say it’s on the edgier side.
16. Do you have any siblings?
I have a younger sister and she’s my favourite person in the world.

17. Favourite tv-shows?
Way too many. I love anything real, raw and psychological, or just plain funny. Here are some of my favourites:
- Friends
- Skins
- Alice In Borderland
- The Queen’s Gambit
18. Describe your first crush.
Mysterious fuckboy with too many issues.
19. What is the biggest struggle you overcame?
Tackling the physical and mental consequences of being ill for an extended period of time. Getting rid of panic attacks. Dealing with toxic relationships.
20. What are your favourite values in friends?
I like people who are empathic, trustworthy, openminded and unafraid to take the initiative.
Okay, that’s it! You might not know all my deepest, darkest secrets (yet), but at least you’ve got a general idea of who I am now. If you’ve made it all the way to the end, first of all, thank you! I’m so glad you’re here. I’d honestly love to get to know you too, so don’t be shy, feel free to introduce yourself in the comments below or shoot me a message! 🙂
