The Perfect Summer Bucket List For 2025 (With Free Printable!)

The arrival of summer has always felt nostalgic to me. I blame my typical 90s childhood where every summer seemed to last a lifetime. It was an endless series of sun-soaked days spent running through sprinklers, riding bikes with friends until streetlights flickered on, and hearing the ice cream truck rolling down the block. We devoured popsicles with sticky fingers, set up blanket forts in the backyard, and stayed outside until we were called in for dinner. Sometimes I think that every summer, I try to chase that feeling of ultimate freedom and carefreeness.

Unfortunately, as an adult, it can be tough to find the same sense of spontaneity. It’s hard to be carefree when you also have to fill out your taxes, pay bills and keep the house tidy. However, it’s of vital importance to keep your inner child alive, and reminiscing about the past only takes you so far. How about we take some action this year and indulge once again in those small, simple pleasures. To help with this, I’ve created the perfect summer bucket list for 2025. Let’s make the most of those long summer days, shall we?

πŸ’‘ Pro tips to enjoy every moment:

  • Buy a disposable camera or polaroid to capture those perfect summer moments. I love doing this, it’s so much more exciting than using your phone!
  • Make a scrapbook to collect all of your memories, so you can look back on the summer of 2025 when you’re old and grey.
  • Plan one or two bigger activities per week (road trips, festivals) and sprinkle in simple joys like ice cream, sunsets, and mocktails daily.
  • Let spontaneity win out sometimes: summer thrives on unplanned magic.

1. Go on a road trip

I’ve never properly done this, and I’m not ashamed to admit I have a totally romanticized image of what a road trip should be. Laughing with friends in the car, blasting old rock music, windows down and wind in your hair. Making random pit stops at scenic spots. You get the gist! So yes… it needs to happen this summer.

2. Make a campfire

One of my favourite memories as a young teen is sitting around a small campfire with friends and family, getting tipsy on fruity beers and telling scary stories under the stars. You don’t need to head to the woods for the full experience: your backyard, the beach, or any safe spot will do just fine.

3. Have a beach day

This doesn’t really need an explanation. A beach day during summer is simply a must. If you don’t live near the seaside (like me), you can combine it with a road trip and have a proper getaway!

4. Read a book

Nothing beats reading a cheap romance novel under a shady tree with an ice cold drink and a bowl of fresh fruit by your side. Specific, I know, but trust me, it’s a vibe.

5. Attend a music festival

Grab your friends and dance barefoot in a crowd, while getting high on life, music and …. . I’ll let you fill in that blankπŸ˜‰.

6. Host a BBQ

Ah, another classic. Nothing says summer like the smell of food sizzling on the grill. Whether it’s a spontaneous gathering with a few friends or a full-blown garden party, hosting a BBQ is the perfect way to make the most of those warm evenings. Add some fairy lights, throw on a playlist, and serve up your favorite sides!

7. Try paddleboarding

Once you get the hang of it, paddleboarding is surprisingly relaxing. Practice your balance skills while admiring a gorgeous sunrise or sunset.

8. Visit a farmer’s market

Wear a beautiful, flowy dress, buy some fresh flowers, and indulge in tasty treats from local farmers’ stands. It’s the perfect way to start a summer morning.

9. Go hiking

Escape the summer heat by heading into a cool forest or climbing higher into the mountains. It’s the perfect season to explore those scenic trails and peaks that are often too chilly the rest of the year.

10. Have a picnic in the park

Pack your favourite snacks, a cozy blanket, and maybe a good book or some card games, and head to a nearby park for a laid-back afternoon!

11. Ride a roller coaster

The perfect evening activity after a long day of lazing around in the sun. Find an amusement park in your area and get that adrenaline kick. Or just enjoy some cotton candy and spend your money in a luna park.

12. Watch a sunset

I never tire of watching sunsets. It makes me feel small in the best way. I don’t get it when people are like ‘if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all’. We really shouldn’t take nature’s spectacles for granted.

13. Go dancing

It’s actually been found dancing is one of the best cures for depression. I don’t find it hard to believe. I miss the times I would dance every week, feeling completely free and alive. So yes, let’s seize every opportunity to dance this summer.

14. Eat an ice cream

Can’t really do summer without eating ice creams, can ya?

15. Visit an aquarium

This might sound random to you, but visiting an aquarium is a great afternoon summer activity. Especially when you’ve had a bit of an overdose of heat and sunlight, it’s the perfect place to cool off. It’s dark, peaceful and you’ll most likely learn something new!

16. Go to an outdoor cinema

Cozy blankets, homemade snacks, and cult classics under the stars. Never gets old, does it?

17. Make mocktails

Tasty drinks don’t always have to involve alcohol. I’ve had enough summers that ended in blurry memories and questionable choices. For 2025, we’re proving that healthy doesn’t have to be boring. I’ve started collecting mocktail recipes on Pinterest and I’m excited to try some of them!

18. Pick some berries

Fun, adventurous, and very nostalgic.

19. Visit a botanical garden

Exotic plants, ancient trees, flowery scents, plenty of shady spots… If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, don’t sleep on botanical gardens. It’s like a little hidden paradise.

20. Paint or draw in nature

Even if it’s just in your garden or on your porch, summer is made for creativity outdoors.

21. Go wild swimming

Find a body of water and let your inner mermaid out. You’ll feel refreshed, revived and one with nature.

22. Have a water balloon fight

Who says adults can’t play with water balloons?

23. Explore a new city

Think strolling through charming streets, grabbing a drink on a sunny terrace, watching people go by. No crazy plans needed, just see where the day takes you and soak up a new environment!

24. Go stargazing

While anyone can do this, stargazing is the perfect activity for couples who’re looking to inject some romance into their summer bucket list. Regardless, looking at the starts always puts things in perspective, somehow.

25. Fly a kite

I don’t think I’ve ever done this as an adult and I used to think it was the most exciting thing ever. Great activity with kids, too, they will love it!

26. Bake something

Open the windows, put on your favourite playlist, and fill your kitchen with the smell of something sweet. Bonus points if you share it with friends (or eat it all yourself, no judgment).

I hope this bucket list inspired you to have a summer filled with cute and fun moments! Of course, you can include more activities or scrap some of they’re not your cup of tea. And remember, as always, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.
