15 Amazing Destinations To Add To Your Bucket List
April 20, 2020
Since the pandemic, I’ve been watching idly while my traffic dropped below zero. This is a travel blog after all (just my luck). Naturally, I’ve been wondering what travel related topics I could write about that people would still enjoy reading. Guides simply aren’t as useful right now, are they? Unless it’s a guide around your backyard, but I’m sure you’ve got that route memorised by now.
Nevertheless, no matter how isolated you are, one thing no one can take away from you is your imagination and the possibility to dream (yes, I have watched too many Disney movies). To be honest, imagining things that aren’t happening right now is probably my brain’s favourite way to pass the time (who can relate…?). This may come as a shock, but one of the things I like to dream about are the places I want to travel to in the future, which is why I’m sharing these 15 amazing destinations to add to your travel bucket list! Let’s daydream together.

My Ultimate Bucket List Of Places To Visit!
1. NEW ZEALAND
I’ve wanted to go to New Zealand ever since I saw Lord Of The Rings more than a decade ago. I remember watching in disbelief from my living room in Belgium and wondering if these places were even real. Well, they are and I still haven’t been. Let’s change that soon, shall we?
2. PERU
Just like New Zealand, Peru has been on my bucket list for ages. I read a book about it when I was 15 years old and although it was a cheap romance novel, something about the descriptions caught my attention. The ancient cultures, old ruins, unique indigenous languages, colourful handmade clothes and, most of all, the climb to Machu Picchu. I studied some Spanish history & literature at University, so this is all wildly interesting to me. I can’t even imagine standing on that mountain and seeing these sights IRL.
3. ARGENTINA
I feel like almost every country in South-America is worth visiting, but I didn’t want to make an uncomfortably long list, so I decided to include one more. Argentina is pretty gigantic, so it’s perfect if you want to go on a longer (& super adventurous!) trip. I love the rough landscapes and spectacular views!
4. CUBA
Cuba has intrigued me ever since I realised it’s a one way ticket to the past. Don’t you love the idea of stepping back in time and getting a sense of what it was like to live in the 50s? The oldschool buildings & classic cars; it’s crazy to me that a place like that still exists! Btw, after seeing Dirty Dancing 2, I’ve been obsessed with Salsa Cubana, so I cannot wait to do a bit of – possibly dirty – dancing myself in Havana. Diego Luna, where u at?
5. ICELAND
Iceland is one of those bucket list destinations that looks like it came straight from a fantasy movie. It’s like this mystical land that’s rough and desolate, but breathtaking nonetheless. I’ve always imagined renting a Jeep-like car to explore the entire island: from Reykjavik to the blue lagoon to the many waterfalls and ultimately to the black sand beaches and icy shores. And if you want to get really adventurous: take a tent & camp out!
6. NORWAY
Whenever I google “Norway nature”, I realise how vastly underrated this Scandinavian country is. I always tend to look for warm, tropical destinations and sometimes forget the charm of more Nordic, wintery places such as Norway & Iceland. Btw, there’s the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights! If that isn’t a bucket list experience, I don’t know what is…
7. CROATIA
Croatia only caught my attention recently, when I saw a picture on Instagram of the Plitvice lakes (one word: wow). I started doing some research and quickly began to understand why everyone wants to go backpacking in Croatia. It might be one of the first places I’m going after the travel ban is lifted, since my sister & I were already planning a trip there.
8. EGYPT
My granddad always had lots of interesting facts to share about Egypt and the pyramids. He had a pile of books all about it and we were both really fascinated by the history of these world wonders. It seems really far away and unattainable right now, but I know I will one day watch the sun come up from behind the pyramids and cry at the sheer sight of something so incredible.
9. MOROCCO
Morocco seems like a mysterious, pleasantly chaotic place and I can’t wait to check out the buzzing markets, beautiful architecture and empty deserts.
10. SOUTH AFRICA
I feel like South Africa will inevitably be a once in a lifetime experience, especially if you’re from Europe and you’re not used to seeing wild animals. I can’t be the only one who’s had ‘go on safari’ on their bucket list for literal years…
11. CANADA
If you’re a nature lover like me, you need to visit Canada. Clear blue lakes, white mountain tops, endless pine tree forests: the landscapes are simply stunning. Besides, I’ve only ever met friendly Canadians.
12. CALIFORNIA
I’m definitely not one of those people who thinks Los Angeles is the place to be, but I will gladly admit that California has a lot to offer. Of course, I’d never skip LA or Hollywood (just because I’ve seen it in movies a million times), although I’m much more interested in San Francisco and driving along Big Sur.
13. HAWAII
I’ve seen too many Instagram stories of modern hippie influencers running around naked along the beaches of Hawaii to not want to go there. I’m not sure whether the island will be my healing sanctuary, but I can’t deny that some parts of Hawaii look like paradise on earth. I don’t know about you, but I’ll have as much of that as I can in this lifetime!
14. BALI
Is it even possible to be a millennial and not want to go to Bali? But, I mean, who can blame us? Yummy food for a cheap price, friendly people, exotic beaches… Yes please! Whenever a place is so hyped up, there must be a reason for it, right?
15. PHILIPPINES
The Philippines were never really on my list, until it started popping up everywhere on Instagram and I realised it has the most turquoise water to ever exist on the planet. Similar to Bali, it became a bit overhyped, but I feel like it’s just too stunning to skip.
There you have it! These are some of my top destinations to add to your travel bucket list. You can’t go wrong with any of these; they’re all stunning and unique in their own way. Obviously, there are lots of other places that I’d like to visit one day, but this seemed like a good start. I hope my bucket list gave you some inspiration for your own future travels!
What are the top 3 destinations on your bucket list?? Let me know in the comments 🙂
Love this great list. I think visisting Philippines is something I never thought about but after this post, I am definitely adding it to my bucket list
Thank you, I’m glad this gave you some inspiration 🙂
Iceland should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list. The surroundings are so foreign-looking that they have been used in many movies that take place on other planets –like Star Wars!!
I know, it’s such a unique country! I can’t wait to visit.
Great list! I might add a few of these to my own list! Gorgeous photos!
Thank you so much 🙂
